Building Dreams, a Stable Workforce & Giving Back

What is the leading question one should ask a Builder to help direct them towards a good fit for their building or renovation project?  “Do you have previous clients with whom I can talk and is there a possibility of seeing the work you did for them?”  Home owners should investigate how a builder works, communicates, approaches problems, and responds in different situations.  There is no better advertisement than a verbal testimony and no better reference than a satisfied client willing to show off their new home or recently completed renovation project.

How does Lauer Construction maintain a “Stable Workforce”?  Our company is comprised of many long-standing employees with extensive work experience, which is the definition of a stable workforce. Scott Schorr, Vice President, has been with us since 1993. Barry Henderson, Site Supervisor, joined Lauer Construction in 1978 (John Lauer established the company in 1972, so Barry has been with us almost from the beginning!). Shane Schorr has been with us since 1998 and Wade Schorr is also coming up on 20+ years with Lauer Construction. Many of our installers and carpenters have been with us for over 10 years. Our very good employee retention rate communicates the professionalism and stability of our company’s culture, which in turn instills trust from our clients. These attributes have become paramount to our success. Many of our clients come back to us time and time again because they know the same skilled craftsman will be working on their project.

Founder & President, John Lauer, of Lauer Construction is known for being environmentally conscious and for giving back to the community. Can you describe how?John Lauer has always supported Anne Arundel County and the Annapolis community. Through donations to local sport teams and charities and volunteering time and materials to educational facilities, he is continually involved with giving back. We also recommend that our clients donate their old kitchen cabinets, appliances, bathroom cabinets, etc. to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, ReStore or Second Chance. This not only stops excess demolition debris from ending up in landfills, but also provides employment for displaced and unemployed workers.
